The long Trip
Our longer trips take you into some of Nepal’s most remote areas. Often they begin with short treks to the river. On these treks we employ local porters to carry our gear and supplies, so all you need to carry are your own personal belongings.

Many of our long trips finish close to some of our less easily accessible National Parks and Wildlife Reserves (the Karnali trip actually finishes in the Bardia National Park). So you may wish to combine your rafting trip with a safari adventure and go in search of our native tigers, bears and rhinos!

Sunkoshi River: The river of gold - Mt. Everest region (9 days)
Sun Koshi is famous in rafting circles, and with good reason. Roaring past remote villages and looming Himalayan giants, this amazing river promises the experience of a lifetime; particularly during high waters, when the rapids can swell to twice the width of the Grand Canyon, and rafts can often disappear from the sight of those standing on the riverbank

Karnali River: Holy water born from the Sacred Mt Kailash. (10 days)
A one-day trek from the nearest road leads you to Karnali, Nepal’s largest and longest river. On the river, a series of challenging class IV to V rapids takes you through narrow canyons and dense forest full of diverse flora and fauna, finally leaving you close to Bardia National Park, where you can combine your rafting adventure with a safari trip and maybe spot some of the park’s one-horned rhinos and elusive tigers.

Marsyangdi River: The raging river - Annapurna Region (6 days)
Descending form the village of Manang, the Marshyangdi winds through a narrow gorge of uninterrupted class IV to V rapids, under the watchful gaze of Annapurna’s towering peaks. If it’s adventure you seek, you’ll find it on this trip with one day of easy trekking and five days of intense rafting.

Group Expedition
Mountain River Rafting can arrange personalized trips by raft, kayak, catamaran or the new Bublick for any group of experienced rafters. These expeditions are not commercially run: they exist only when requested. Which means you have complete freedom to choose what you want to do – and where.

Whatever your dream of adventure, we’ll do our best to bring to it life. At your demand, we can arrange to search out first descents, try new types of river craft and plan extended trips in Nepal’s remote wilderness.

There is nothing we enjoy more than pushing life–and the river–to the limit, but always with the greatest regard to safety. We invite you to come with us.

Below are two examples of trips we can arrange for your group

Arun River - (12 days)
This trip begins with a 3-day trek through remote villages in Eastern Nepal – an area few visitors ever see – camping out in lush forests with views of the snowcapped Himalayan peaks. On the river, the powerful current drives your raft or kayak through 6 days of great white water action; at night you relax on fantastic beaches in dramatic valleys. In our opinion, the combination of trekking, spectacular scenery, great rapids and remote location make the Arun the best river to run in Nepal. Mountain River Rafting can also offer the Upper Arun River exclusively with the unique Bublick. We are proud to say that we are the only company to run trips on the most.

Tamur River - (10 days)
An expedition on the Tamur River begins with a breathtaking 4-day trek through remote Eastern Nepal. Once on the river, you begin a 120 km descent through more than 100 of the most exciting rapids the river has to offer. As with the Arun, the Tamur offers you the opportunity to explore a beautiful, but rarely seen part of Nepal by foot and raft or kayak. The Tamur is best tackled between October and November, and February and May.
