Nepal Mountaineering Association has named mountaineer Nirmal Purja as its Goodwill Ambassador for 2021.
Purja, famously known as Nimsdai, has been chosen as the goodwill ambassador in a bid to help the Association promote and foster mountain-tourism around the globe.
The NMA, in a statement issued Tuesday, said that Purja would be provided a token amount of Rs 100,000 for his contribution to promotional activities.
Furthermore, the Association informed that the team members of the recent successful historic K2 winter expedition would be accorded membership of the NMA for the next 10 years without any fee.
On January 16, the ten-member expedition team stood atop Mt K2, in the Karakoram massif, the first-ever winter ascent of the world's second-highest peak.
