About Nar Phu Valley Trekking

Nar Phu Valley Trek is off the beaten path and the most adventurous trekking to the hidden corner of the Annapurna region, where you get to see mountain views and culture, unlike any other place. Situated between Damodar Kunda and Annapurna Circuit, Nar and Phu are the two picturesque villages with a countable number of locals. Nar Phu Valley Trekking presents off-the-beaten trekking experience in the Himalayas. The majestic views of the mountains, stunning glaciers, narrow canyons, deep gorges, unique rock formations, and ancient lifestyle of the locals give you a lifelong memory.

As the Nar and Phu villages are the two most secluded places in Nepal, you will not find any facilities. The region has high archeological and cultural value, therefore it is protected by the Nepal government. This Trek has been open since 2002. You need to follow a special procedure to go on the Nar Phu Valley Trek. Only a handful of visitors have traveled in this region, which makes it not crowded at all. Nature is raw and beautiful. You get to experience the culture and tradition similar to Tibetans. Tashi Lhakhang is the oldest monastery in the region, where you will be blessed by the lama.

Best time to go on Nar Phu Valley Trek:

Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) are the two most preferable seasons to go on Nar Phu Valley Trekking. The moderate climate and stable weather make the journey joyful and the views stunning.

Nar Phu Valley Trek difficulty

Nar Phu Valley Trek is a less crowded trek that demands good physical fitness and endurance. You will be trekking in one of the most isolated parts of Nepal, where very limited service facilities are available. Therefore, you have to adjust beyond your comfort zone. Likewise, Nar Phu Valley Trek 17 Days takes you above 5,000 meters, which involves chances of high altitude sickness and other risks. It is very important to acclimatize yourself properly on the way.

Useful Information for Nar Phu Valley Trek 

Nar Phu Valley is one of the restricted areas of Nepal, where you need to get special permission from the government of Nepal to go on a trek. Furthermore, this permit also only gets issues under the following conditions:

  •     You mandatory have to hire a professional guide
  •     You have to be at least two people in one group not including a guide or porter
  •     You have to file your special permit through an authorized local trekking agency

Day 01 : Arriving in Kathmandu Transfer to hotel (1400m)

After your landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you get welcomed by  representatives from Beyond the Limits Treks & Expedition. He/she guides you to the hotel. You can rest for the day. In the evening, you meet with your tour guide in your hotel lobby, and he briefs you about the program.

Today, Nar Phu Restricted area trekking permit preparation .You will check all the equipment and make sure everything is in good condition. you can used your time for sightseeing in world heritage site in Kathmandu if you need guide or car Let us know

After a delicious breakfast, you begin driving towards Besishahar. The drive will be long and scenic. You get to see the stunning landscape on the way. Lush green hills, rivers, small settlements, dense forests, and waterfalls decorate the route.

Today is the first day of the trek. Trekking through small villages and lush forests of pine & fir, you ascend towards Koto. On the way, you get to see superb views of Mt. Manaslu and Peak 29.

You register your restricted permit at the Police Check Post, and begin trekking along the bank of Soti Khola. The trail then passes through dense forests of pine. Further, you come across a few streams and suspension bridges and reach Dharmasala. From here, you pass by lush forests and ascend to Meta village. This village welcomes you with amazing views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.

The day begins with lots of ascending and descends crossing several bridges over streams. The trail soon takes you to Kyang, where you get to see ruined of forts of Khampa settlement. Further, the trail passes through Phu Khola and leads you to beautiful Phu village.

It is a rest day for you. You will explore the villages and hike around. You get to experience the rich culture and tradition of the people living in this hidden valley. People from Lama, Gurung, and Ghale resides here. You will visit Tashi Lakhang Monastery listed in 108 world's great Buddhist monasteries. A little fun fact; this is the last monastery built by Karmapa Rinpoche. Along with all these, you get to see wonderful views of many snow-capped mountains including Himlung Himal.

You begin descending passing through several streams and suspension bridges until you reach Mahendra Pul. You then pass a high suspension bridge 80 m over the Lapche River gorge. After having lunch in Mahendra Pul, you ascend on a steep path. On the way, you pass by many stupas and reach Nar village.

Today, you will be exploring Nar village. Hike around and interact with locals. It is a good chance to look into the lifestyle and culture of the people living here.

It is going to be a long day today. You begin walking early morning. The trail ascend to Kang La Pass. From the top of the pass, you can see stunning views of the Annapurna range. Further, the trail descends to Ngwal, where you spend the night.

This day is set apart to explore and acclimate your body. You descend to Braga village, where you visit an ancient monastery. Later, you hike to Chunker Viewpoint from where you see the stunning view of Gangapurna Lake, Cave Gompa, and many Himalayan mountains.

After having breakfast, you begin trekking towards Chame. The trail passes by Pisang village, and further, trekking through rhododendron & pine forests. You will then cross a suspension bridge over Marsyangdi River and reach Chame.

After having breakfast, you drive to Kathmandu. The drive will be long and scenic. You take a small break for lunch, and continue driving towards the city. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you head to the hotel. In the evening, you have a farewell dinner organized by the company.
